Private vs Group Swimming Program for Kids
The group format of swimming training with a coach is quite time consuming and energy consuming even for highly professional coaches. The main difficulty is to form a fairly even group with approximately the same skill level. By the way, it has long been noted that children learn much easier in groups than adults. The group should be a unified organism and as in any whole, if any part of children work with delays, it affects the functioning of the whole group. The process of group swimming with a coach implies a common programme for all. It is competition and rivalry that drives progress, and after all, swimming in a group is more interesting than doing it individually.
Besides showing and explaining to an adult, it is important for individual children to see how another child does the activity. Usually these children are more timid and shy; they willingly follow the example of a more skillful peer. By seeing how other children do the exercises, children learn faster and overcome shyness and fear.
Swimming lessons in a group with peers allow children to learn swimming faster, more interesting and fun, perceiving the lessons as a fun game, which in turn gives the child a positive attitude towards the lessons. On the other hand, during swimming group lessons, children have a competitive moment, and the desire to be better than others allows them to learn faster. Fun games, relay races and competitions allow children to have great fun and add to the excitement of sport! The advantage of having the children in groups is that everyone is occupied in their own way, but in the same way as the others.
When teaching the children in a group, I use play swimming, which includes a variety of water games and activities. Games arouse emotions, increase children’s activity, promote initiative, develop the sense of comradeship, etc.
Happy Training!
